KL/Genting, Itunes Store

Hi Bloggie, recently came back from KL/ Genting, with my mother and her old academy friends. Yes, I went on an "Aunties" Trip! lol. It was quite fun in a way, seeing my mum interact with her friends, who are aunties that watched me grow up and mothers of my childhood friends.

It was shopping, walking, eating and gambling! Although I don't have much luck this year and lose my mum winnings. =(

Discovered a new place while in KL - Crab Island!

Crab Among the Prawn
So we set off to Pulau Ketam - Crab Island. It involve a 1 hour train ride and 30 min ferry ride. After discovering the place, we realise it is nearer to Klang then KL. Upon reaching Pulau Ketam, we were greeted by dried prawns along the jetty side. From afar, it looks like red sands covering the pier. I was reminded of Kukup, looking at the homestay and houses on stilts.

Crabs!
Of course, crabs are a must have at Pulau Ketam. The seafood sold at one of the numerous seafood places are very fresh and economical. Just 180 RM for the 8 of us and there were 8 dishes, including prawns, crabs, fish. Yum!

The Colourful Aunties
A short exploration walk and we head back to the busy city. The Aunties were deck out in very vivid color as above! LOL.

Itunes Store
2 days ago, Apple Inc. announced 12 more countries are able to shop at their iTunes store for music and movies. Singapore was one of them. FINALLY! The ease of getting legal music is so much easier now. Was exploring the store and found a dedicated category for Kpop...
Kpop
2 years ago, i foray into Korean music, thanks to the Goguma Couple, introduced by Ting. Never looked back since. My weekly shows include the ever popular Running Man and Invincible Youth, and not to mention any shows that the 9 girls are in.

River Rafting and Food Trip - IPOH!

Hi Bloggie, went to Ipoh 3rd time in my life and doing river rafting the 1st time in my life! It was AWESOME! I am glad I did it, and will definitely be doing it again! LOL!

The whole objective for Ipoh was River Rafting. So the conceptualization and planning happen a few months ago. Siew did the activities research, I look for the roof over our heads and See Hui did transportation. It was supposed to be a Girls' Trip with the 3 of us plus Avenlin (See Hui's Sis). But newlywed See Hui's Hubby was worried for us and so he tagged along, which is good, as it is safer with a guy with us (and definitely more handy).

Originally, it was either by Air or by Land (Coach) to Ipoh. But Flying was too expensive and Coaching have undesirable timing. In came the Knight in shinning amour, Jun Yan (See Hui's Hubby), and he drove us there. I guess it was a good experience for him too, first time driving such long distance and See Hui/Me nagging at him about speed!

Osbourne Homestay & Apartment
But we all reach Ipoh safely and it was slightly after 1pm when we reached. Checked in at Osbourne Homestay & Apartment. We were lazing around and letting Jun Yan to have some shut eye! We were all complaining about this dark picture above, taken by Jun Yan. Haha!

RiverBug, Recommended Choice!
The next day was "ACTIVITIES DAY"! RiverBug, well known in Ipoh and Sabah, is our recommended choice. We did cave exploration and river rafting, break in between activities for lunch! I did the same cave exploration 9 years ago! Then, we did the dry path, looking at limestone formation and wet path, where we have to duck walk and crawl and navigate thru the low ceiling. The limestone stalagmites and stalactites grew, about 2 inches a year. So instead of duck walk, it became commando crawl for most part of the wet path out! Jun Yan and I were envy of See Hui's height for once. As we were prone to knocks at our head due to our height! Thankful for helmets, something that wasn't there, 9 years ago.

River Rafters!
After we completed the cave, we break for lunch! Lunch was good, and satisfying. We were beside the river and were watching some teams completing their river rafting! Every rafters drift by us, were given a big smile and huge wave from us!

Best River Rafting Instructor - Andie!
Then it was our turn. Our cave exploration guide was Andie. He was also our river rafting instructor! Humorous and spontaneous, he made our river rafting experience, very fun and enjoyable. Impromptu acts from him include dragging Avenlin down to the water; crashing us to a stone behind us while making us do high five. But he did get revenge from us by dunking him into the water after our photo with him!

Rice Wine from Sabah!
Tea was served after we washed up. The host from RiverBug was nice enough to treat us Rice Wine, all the way from Sabah. For non alcoholic drinker like See Hui to claim it was nice, you can imagine how much I like it!

Ipoh Hor Fun and Bean Sprouts
Of course, when you are in Ipoh, you have to have their local dishes! Ipoh Hor Fun, with beansprouts and yellow chicken are a must have. And there were also other local pastries that like Hiong Piah, that people will buy when they visit ipoh.

Pomelo!
Pomelo are also a must have when you are in Ipoh! Sweet, Juicy, absolutely heavenly!

Singapore Zoological Garden

Hi Bloggie, whenever i think of Singapore Zoo, I will think of the advert tune:

We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo...
How bout you, you, you...
You can come too, too, too...
We're going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo...

Too bad, I couldn't find the original advertisement that was screen in my childhood days. Anyway, it was a birthday treat for Siyi and me, and we had so much fun.

The Attendees!
I became the unofficial guide for the trip (as per always). I missed visiting the Zoo. Some changes occurred, but i guess change is good. More extensive changes are on going to accommodate the upcoming new guest of the Zoo, China Panda!

To the Ferry (Look at the Siyi and Siew at the back)
There is now a ferry service that brings you back nearer to the entrance of the zoo from mid point. On board the ferry that strolls along Seletar Reservoir. Enjoying the breeze on board the ferry is enjoyable, especially on a hot humid day.

Panoramic Shot (On Board Ferry)
Lastly, I saw one of my favorite animal, the Tiger! Can't be helped that it coincide with my Zodiac sign!

Once Upon a Time

Hi Bloggie, today I met Vanny for lunch. It is so good to meet up with her, although she "complained" that our meet up makes her feel "old and sudden realisation of past time".  LOL. I am always grateful that our connection remains after we both left the beloved and precious place, and evolve from Superior to Friends relationship. It was from her that I learn, "以德服人" and I will always remember this teaching.

Just finished season 1 of Once Upon a Time. The neat reference to childhood familiarities of fairytale is what attracted me. The variation of the characters against the original reference is what kept my attention. As I grow older, different variation of childhood fairytale presents itself. From Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice in Wonderland....

to Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Wizard of Oz.

Haha, guess one can't say they truly know their childhood favorites. And definitely, "Don't Judge a Book by its Cover!"
